Douglas Bader's Spitfire 1/33

Hello friends.

Here's my rendition of the Anwalt Douglas Bader's Spitfire, enhanced with the engine designed by Alin Oszarik. This was my first (successfully finished) build with a frame-with-skin-wrapped-around. I learned a lot from it. Loved the build too. The Spitfire is a dream to build. Very nice fit and forgiving. It needed some adjustments for fitting the engine in. But thet too went reasonably well. I just have to say I am not a fan of those exploded view-instructions. There's often too much going on at once in one drawing and to me it sometimes is unclear in which order I need to attach stuff.
In the end I guess it worked out fine. Firstly, here are some photos during the build of the plane and the engine.
I loved building the engine and its strangely shaped parts. A model inside a model, as it were. The fit inside the Spitfire for which it wasn't meant to go in ( I am not even sure the engine version is the right one for the MkVb) but it sure results in a very cool model!

And then here the end result. I made a frame for it with some grass as a surface. I left the engine covers off and detailed them inside. Now it's like the engine gets a quick maintenance in the open air inbetween sorties or so. I plan to make a perspex cover that goes over the plane and its frame. Something for later. Here are some glamour pictures for you to enjoy!

Nice build Kosmonaut , the Supermarine Spitfire has been always one of my favorites. I noticed a detail you may want to fix: main landing gear doors are attached in their opposite sides, the left door is in the in right side and right in left side.

Magnificent build Paper Kosmonaut! Nice and simple diorama puts the maintenance job in a good perspective. I miss the antenna mast and aerial - did you leave them out on purpose?

Cheers,
Erik
