Now you tell me Glen. I was wondering about the dust collecting on the plastic model currently on the bench.
Thanks reklein The two museum examples I have seen photos of were both high gloss, so I went with a final coat of Future.

Thanks Dan. Glad you like it. My RC buddy Vic liked it so much that he pulled forty bucks out and wouldn't take no for an answer. I was just going to give it to him, but he was having none of that. He said he never heard of paper card models before, but could see how much work was involved. He was doing a search for a plastic display case on his cell phone when I left. Of course some wag at the field had to say, "Stick a .60 in it and I bet it would scoot."
Now it is catch up time on a paying RC build and some half built plastic on the bench.

Round motors deserve round fuselages! and both look to be a success.

A thing which can help with thread for wire rigging is to "stiffen" the thread by pulling it through blobs of white glue, full strength or lightly thinned, on the ends of your fingers, or in a puddle on plastic on the table.

The point of pulling thread through glue blob on your fingers is to pressure push glue in to interior of thread spiral.

The process:
Cut lengths a bit longer than required.
Leave one end of length un-glued.
After pulling through glue, pull straight, hang up by unglued end.
Allow to dry.
With any luck, the lengths of thread will be both stiffened and de-fuzzed.

EDIT: actually, might want to leave a bit of the other end without glue, too, so a small weight can be attached to allow gravity to pull damp thread straight.
Even a spring clamping clothes pin is enough weight for the job.

Thanks for the kind words and the tip about gluing the thread sounds like something to try. I have a 1/72 scale Short 184 that needs to be rigged. The stiff rigging material might allow pieces cut to size to simply be glued in place. This material may lend itself well to the very straight and square wing bays of this aircraft. Some dark gray watercolor paint mixed in with the glue may give the thread a more steel cable look too.

Off to go get some clips to hang some experimental threads. Thanks again for the tip

SP: I say we go into business. Think of all those RC and plastic guys (not to mention their loved ones) who have no idea what you can do with paper. $40 isn't chicken feed! I just bought a $7 1/48th HP O/400 "Bloody Paralyser"...we could get $100 out of it?!?

Great to see you having fun with these...Dan

A well built model will always find a buyer if dangled in front of the right people.:-)

A little less fun as I am rigging the wings on my Short 184. Really having to flog the spiders...
