Gary did a super job repainting and rendering an otherwise simple looking model. And since it is a prototype that never flew, there is no weathering or dirt smudges to be applied. Hence the different metal panels and shades.

Exclamation Insert bays

There is a cockpit tub and two landing gear bays as well as an exhaust ducts to insert to the fuselage.

The cockpit can't be built and inserted in a completed form. So the alternative is to fold it and assemble it inside the fuselage.

here is the cockpit cutout

insert the tub folded

Next are the landing gear bays. These proved confusing in both location and orientation. The reference photos of the real plane must be carefully studied.
Yak-140 MaksArt repaint by Gary-yak-140.jpg

Here is the rear bay. It is is facing the wrong way ( my error ). Since the gear retracts forward, the deep end should be in front.

nose gear bay was originally placed in the wrong position in which the doors were erroneously thought to be similar to a Mig-21 where the gear retracted forward and the doors were rounded to resemble the tire shape.

I moved the nose gear aft to its correct position and orientation. The rounded unpainted area of the fuselage will be corrected by Gary. I will apply a "field" correction later on.

Bays in place.

and lastly, the engine exhaust is inserted in place.

Red face Spine

Here are the spine fairing that extend from the canopy to the vertical tail

I added some internal supports
Yak-140 MaksArt repaint by Gary-img_2434.jpgYak-140 MaksArt repaint by Gary-img_2435.jpg

I struggled in the correct placement and started with the large piece behind the canopy.
Yak-140 MaksArt repaint by Gary-img_2438.jpgYak-140 MaksArt repaint by Gary-img_2439.jpg

however it was glued too far forward.

here is the rest of the spine.
Yak-140 MaksArt repaint by Gary-img_2440.jpg

notice the gap that appeared as I placed the graphics of the middle spine part aligned with the fuselage marking.
Yak-140 MaksArt repaint by Gary-img_2441.jpg

here is the proper alignment of the middle spine part.
Yak-140 MaksArt repaint by Gary-img_2442.jpg

The gap can be prevented if the instruction is to start it at the double diagonal rivet lines shown.

I will correct it later on my build. Gary will add a marking on the model.

Isaac,

The Yak-140 is looking fantastic. Very nice build. This project is truly a collaborative effort with a lot of work from both of us. Looking forward to working with you on many more projects.

Gary

Gary

It is a pleasure working with you on these subjects. I find we compliment each other talents.

Yes, we will go on to more projects.

Cool Flaps and ailerons

A nice touch are the separate control surfaces. I like the large flaps.

The surfaces all have a piece of wood inserted to keep them straight.
