Time to start another project, I do still think this is my favorite P-51D model although had to do the flaps, I forgot how many little details I had to do yet on this. The coolest is just the silver paper it is printed on really that makes this model. Got to love a Halinski model for the amazing design attention they put into a model before it gets released. The older ones like this are my alltime favorites.

Nice set of dramatic photos Glen.
The silver skin of the aircraft shines . . . a trademark of Helinski kits? Just curious: How do you produce your aircraft canopies? Mike |

HI Mike This particular kit is printed on silver card in the booklet. I tested spraying that with clear gloss and ended up doing that, I found where the parts were handled or worked with too much that a bit of silver came off, and I might have made it shinier than needed, but most of these you see in life are polished nowadays to a high shine. The canopy was from a vacuform mold I made from the paper parts, I used Yoav's thread on this to learn he made a good tutorial.

Who need pl....c when you can get this in paper!
Very nice build, it temps me a lot (then I see my allotted space for models, and I cry.....). |
