Petie 2nd p-51, 1/33 AH

If you have the chance to see the really better builds of this model, they can be found on this site, my favorite is mgolovanov's gallery aircraft, or look at Gen D's over the top build wow. Mine is essentially just without modification the only change, not an easy one, is to separate the flaps on the model, I still don't know why this was not included in the original design, except that it was a design from quite a few years ago.

This is a continuation of a model I started but became sidetracked...The original plan was to build this model from the book it came in on original silver print. This is something with Halinski models I have avoided, I like to make my own formers, ect but with these models the tolerances are so close that I've needed to reprint parts at times but can't do that with this one.
I cant recall when I started this one, I think late winter last year so was sitting awhile, and then was just the cockpit. Skinning went smooth as silk due to the incredible accuracy of AH kits, I love this model, although last time I built it was using red river paper in my old thread from a decade ago. The model sat on my desk since the fuse was done, but now getting the bits and pieces together to move on and get it a place on the shelf...
Showing spinner building with the paper parts together, then coated both sides with ca glue. File, sand paint, ect. I think this is a great way to make a paper model look better, not to show seams on the spinner. I've had some issues with this one, no fault of fault at all of the designer, just carelessness on my part, the worst being globbing gel ca glue on a wing, ugh. It is a handmade paper model though....

I'm glad to see you adding this historic and beautiful airplane to your formation of 1/33 aircraft.

It looks like the construction is up to your very high standard of craftsmanship,

Don

I like what you did to the spinner. It is infinitely better to make a smooth version of the paper parts ( especially if those are of a petal design ).

Thanks Don, Isaac, Gene and for your help Rick
The finest kits of all, Andrew Halinksi, some say different titles on the kit, but one awesome publisher. Gremir is selling some today did you see that?

Thank you Yoav The plane is up on her wheels for a photo shoot, the wings are attached permanently and the stabilizers are just on the wire but not glued.
I've been a little more hasty with this build, and although the model is very photogenic, there are some issues, some worse than others, however I'm still not planning to take pictures showing this, ha ha
