Unhappy Damaged SU-22UM3k HOBBY MODEL 069

I built this Hobby Model two seater Suchoi 22 many years ago and was actually planning to build a better version in the future.

however...

As I unpacked from my recent trip, I inadvertently pushed my radio control tool box into the nose of this model and severely damaged it.

Options:
1- trash the model
2- print a scanned part for the damaged section and rebuild it
3- purchase a replacement model . ( https://sklep.gpm.pl/antykwariat/mod...obby-model-069 )
4- look for an improved or a repainted version. I will wait for it though.

Option 2 is currently not available to me because I never scanned this model.

Option 3 is not appealing to me because the rendering for this original model is too basic for me.

Option 4 for me is the best assuming I can find a top quality two seater of this Suchoi.

Here is the tool box vs. model outcome

and the plane from afar.

Lesson learned :
Big models need sufficient clearance or else, they will be damaged.

Option 5-don't do anything, keep them model as memento and carry on.

I damaged/destroyed number of models mainly during moves.I keep few but usually I give them away to kids interested in models (I do this often anyway).

Surprisingly some of those models survived many years, examples are HMS Dido and Le Terrible ships I did 30 years ago before I moved to Canada. They both survived new owners growing up and assault by their own kids. They lost a lot of parts but as still enjoyed by someone.

Dear Isaac:
Option 6 Make the damage look like Air crash and turn it into a diorama
Enjoy,
Miles

OUCH!

Isaac, did someone say repaint? Too bad you don't have a scan of it. I'm going with Miles, it really does look like an air crash.

Would you be willing to cut the craft at the canopy seem, pop out the dents and reinforce the backing and butt joint the pieces back together again.
If you're not happy with the result, search for a replacement.

Do the above, and Chip Fyn's trick for strengthening fuselage and wings without formers and stuff the nose with tissue paper.

Usually I just throw it away or give it away.

Good idea, but I don't think I will do it.

Thanks for the idea.

That was a thought. However, there is no popping out the dents. It will look bad. There is fiber deformation to the part.

If someone has a scan of the nose parts, I will consider this repair by replacing the dented part.

Thanks

Isaac

the dents will still show thru via all the creases.

However it is a thought.

Thanks
