1/87 scale Ohana by Hawaiian ATR42
After more than 3.5 years, I finally finished painting and building a 1/87 scale model of 'Ohana by Hawaiian ATR42. I started by repainting a free 1/72 scale paper model of the ATR42 that used to be available (but not anymore) for download on the ATR website http://www.atraircraft.com. Along the way, however, I got sidelined by redesigning the wing cradle, landing gear sponson, engine cowlings, and landing gear. I also added blended wing tip devices, flap actuators and antennas. After a lot of trial and error, I think I threw away 7 fuselages, 4 empenages, 1 cockpit-nose assembly, 6 wings, 6 wing cradles, 19 landing gear fairings, 10 engine nacelles, 4 horizontal stabilizers, and countless small parts. Anyway, the model is finally done and if the wind is blowing from the west, I can look outside around 1615 hr and N805HC that I modeled (or one of its 3 sisters) will fly overhead on its final approach to the airport.

That is a magnificent model of a beautiful airplane. It appropriately reflects the time and effort that you put into the build.
