Trident II Answer model in 1/33-original build

The Trident II variant carried a missile experimentally.


Here is a photo of the single missile carried under the fuselage center line.



The original kit missile is all white.



here is the repaint with red and white areas denoting an experimental missile.




here is the pylon




I mounted the missile on the model.



however..... I did not pay attention to the orientation and it ended being 180 degrees off.

Version 3 is coming up

At this point, I will pause the completion ( canopy and aft fairing ) and proceed to build version 3...




I will do both canopies at the same time since those will be vacuformed.

In discussion with fellow builders and designers, there was a topic of conversation that dealt with the coloration of version 2 being too blue and dark for a metallic look.


so....

I discussed it with Gary and we jointly decided to lighten the rendering. The long and short, here is version #3.

It is by no mean an end all and surely it will not satisfy everyone especially those seeking authenticity in a metallic look. Our aim was to display another variation in metallic coloration that can be printed on a conventional ink printer at home. There is an element of artistry here as well. Remember, we are building models not airplanes, and the artists does take some diversions when depicting real objects.

So until the printer manufactures have silver or metallic cartridges in their printer, we are stuck with colorations of greys with other colors mixed in to represent metal as best as can be.

So here it is.
