Exclamation A note about glue used

I decided to take the advice of some fellow builders and use the UHU glue as a primary glue for building this model instead of the Aleen's tacky glue I use almost exclusively for the past 10 some odd years.

What I found is that it works very well in most situation without warping the paper itself.

however

Since it take a while for the glue to harden and set, there were areas that did not work for me. For example, a long fuselage halves mated around the cockpit opening or just behind. The UHU glue just did not hold it in place for a solid mating.

my solution was to add some dabs of Aleen's to hold the large sections in place. It works for me.

For internal disks, I used the super glue ( CA ) to tack them internally to the skins. This is a method I learned from Yoav.

Isaac,

I love the idea of using CA glue to tack the formers in place. I've never heard that one before.

Version 3 is coming along quite nicely. Keep up the great work.

Hello Isaac,

Both the original version and repaint are looking great.
However your re-color is far more 'juicy' shall we say

By the way have you had any tutorial on the 'metal/chrome effect' or is it just your own 'trial and error' method which you mastered throughout the time?

Kind regards

Cybermac

"juicy" is better than plain!

As to the rendering, that goes to Gary ( MacSongLi ). He may elaborate if he wishes.

I act as a consultant to the projects we collaborate and a builder/test builder.

Thank you very much for using the term "mastered". It's definitely a "labour" of love. Isaac and I have been trying a multitude of different techniques and treatments to see what looks best. We definitely don't have a tutorial, we're still in the "trial and error" stage. So a lot of what we do changes over time. If we ever do achieve the perfect metallic look, so much time will be put into it that I think we might keep it a trade secret.

I can say that about 98% of all of the work that we do is in Inkscape, the other 5% is Gimp.

Thanks again!
Gary

Cool Fun with engines

As I started mounting the engines on the wingtips, i got a bit silly and started playing with a "what if" tilt engine configuration similar to the German EWR VJ 101
Trident II Answer model in 1/33-original build-ewr-vj-101-view.jpgTrident II Answer model in 1/33-original build-ewr-vj-101-hover.jpgTrident II Answer model in 1/33-original build-ewr-vj-101-flight.jpg

so here we go.
here are the pictures showing the engines tilting from horizontal to vertical and a bit more.

Just click on each photo and once all are loaded click fast on the NEXT or PREVIOUS and notice the stop motion animation.

In reality, the Trident was never considered for a vertical take off vehicle. This is all for fun.
