Murph's Mosquito
Murph’s Mosquito
Howdy, Photos: 1,2,3,4 Printed on letter size 110 lb card stock. Finished Model: Wingspan:15 inches Length 12 inches Height 5 inches to top of vertical props. 5 ,6,7 Props spin and are wire reinforced. The props were installed as marked even though I believe the Mosquitos props, unlike the P-38, turned in the same direction. 8,9,10 Chin guns: Cutting into the fuselage I messed up trying to insert the chin gun assemblies. Had to create a panel to fit the chin opening. Nose guns are paper wrapped wire with ends left open. 11, 12 Burnishing control surfaces makes a difference especially in dark colored areas. 13 Hand held model for size. BP |

Very nicely done - especially the fabric control surfaces.

Nice work, Bob!
Your model looks great in the markings of 487 (New Zealand) Squadron. One of the greatest warplanes in history, in my opinion. I'm glad Murph has made the Mossie available in several liveries, including a PR Mk XVI in photo-recon blue and U.S. D-Day markings of the 653rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, 25th Bombardment Group based at RAF Watton, England, in 1944 (similar to the one in the National Museum of the USAF in Dayton, Ohio). Thank you guys for your words.
I asked my "96 and a half " year old veteran friend and WWII Mosquito crew member if his Mosquitos had counter rotating props. His reply: imagine this with and English accent: "No It would swing like an S,O,B,* on take off if not careful." We had been E-mailing and talking with each other on the phone many evenings during this construction of Murph's Mosquito. I learned a lot of aviation history involving the Mosquito. It all started with my Me 262 build that made Ken contact me and start the Mosquito build interest. Murph's Mosquito was right there ready for download. Thank you Murph, BP |
