Oeffag Albatros D-III 1/33rd by Fitter and Repainted by Matt77

All,
Here is one I just finished as a break from working on the Dornier. I know...WWI as a break? I just have more luck with this era and I think they are pretty and elegant when done.

Fitter's kit went together very well. I'm not a fan of 9 fuselage segments but aside from my butchering of some of the seams, it all turned out pretty well. I'd also make the struts slimmer to be more scale but that's just me. As designed, it's a looker. Doesn't hurt to have Matt77's repainting. Phenomenal.

I only changed a few things like using balsa for formers instead of cardboard, added some wire for the plumbing and strut innards, a foot step on the front landing gear leg and filled/sanded/airbrushed the petal nose to make it look nicer. Oh...and I also added pulled plastic sprue gun troughs that I drilled out on the end.

A really neat addition to any WWI collection and looks significantly different than other Albatros fighters too! The DV will be next...

Thanks for looking,
Dan

Well done indeed Dan!
You don't appreciate the paint scheme until you see it
built.
