FAB F-39E, S&P 300 Series recolor.

F-39E probably be the most powerful fighter jet ever produced in southern hemisphere.

Thank you for your contribution.

The production of the F-39 has not yet started in Brazil, and considering the crisis that the country is experiencing, perhaps these plans will delay somewhat. For the time being the FAB has only one model flying in Brazil (that of the model) produced by SAAB. I think that Grippen in terms of technology will rival the Su-30s from Venezuela here in South America.

Gripen is a way better fighter in almost every way, Gripen NG got more advanced avionic, they equipped with AESA reader while Venezuela's Su-30 only have poor PESA onboard, Brazilian Gripen NG even got next generation missiles (IRIS-T and Metor) while Su-30 only have R-77 and R-73(or mostly, poor R-27 and R-73),any air combat between Gripen and Venezuela’s Su-30 gonna end like a turkey hunt.

Number 6 - Vultee V11GB "Vultizão"

The next model in the collection is Vultee V-11GB called by FAB aviators in the time of "Vultizão" or big Vultee (FAB operated in same time Vultee Valiant BT-13/15 called "Vultizinho" or Smaller Vultee).

The attack bomber Vultee V-11 was developed from the passenger transport aircraft Vultee V-1A, taking advantage of the wings, landing gear and rear surfaces; the fuselage was semi-monocoque, of elliptical section and an extensive canopy covered the cabin for two crew members. The aircraft was equipped with a .30-inch machine gun on each wing and another, mobile, of the same caliber, operated by the machine gun on the rear seat; it was capable of carrying 1,100lb of bombs, in an internal fuselage bay and under the wings. The V-11 was equipped with a radial engine Wright SR-1820-F53 Cyclone, of 750HP, with propeller bipá; the V-11A version was equipped with a tripod propeller. Thirty V-11A aircraft were purchased by China; some of these aircraft received 850HP Wright R-1820-G2 Cyclone engines locally, and came to be designated as V-11G. The Chinese V-11s were used by the 14th Squadron, a unit of foreign mercenary pilots based in Hangzhou, who engaged Japanese troops in 1938.

The V-11GB was the next version, now with three crew members: pilot, machine gun and bomber, which aimed to launch bombs through a window on the floor. The bomber also operated a .30-inch machine gun positioned behind him, in the belly of the aircraft. The frontal armament was increased to two .30-inch machine guns on each wing and the aircraft was capable of carrying 1,000lb of bombs over a distance of 2,400 miles. Four V-11GB were purchased by the Soviet Union in 1936, from which 31 copies of a local version, called BSh-1, were produced; their poor performance meant that they were used as postal planes (PS-43) and, during the Great Patriotic War, as connecting aircraft, being decommissioned in 1947.

In 1938, the Military Aviation of the Brazilian Army acquired 26 copies of the V-11 GB2 version, which received registrations 105 to 130. The latter was modified by Vultee, equipped with floats and offered to the Naval Aviation of the Brazilian Navy, however it has not been acquired.

The V-11 GB2, known as "Vultizões", equipped the 1st Aviation Regiment, based in Santa Cruz-RJ. On November 8, 1939, one of these aircraft, piloted by Maj. Clóvis Monteiro Travassos, 1º-Ten. Oswaldo Carneiro Lima (navigator) and 2º-Sgt. Alfredo Amaral Barcelos (mechanic), made a direct flight between Fortaleza and Porto Alegre, covering 3,240 km in 11h45min.

With the creation of the Ministry of Aeronautics in 1941, the remaining 24 aircraft were incorporated into the FAB. During World War II, these aircraft were used in anti-submarine patrol missions. On August 26, 1942, the V-11 GB2 '122' aircraft, headquartered in the 3rd Aviation Regiment, in Canoas-RS, and manned by the 1st-Ten.-Av. Alfredo Gonçalves Corrêa (pilot), Asp.-Av. Manuel Poerner Mazeron (bomber) and sergeant Carlos Zell (radiographer and machine gun), surprised a submarine at the height of Araranguá, coast of Paraná, 50 miles from the coast. In the attack, carried out at 2:00 pm, three 250lb bombs were dropped; the shrapnel of one of them damaged the speed ring and exhaust manifold of the V-11 GB2, which caused the crew to land in emergency at the Osório-RS aerodrome. On the 28th of the same month, the Vultee V-11 GB2 '7', piloted by Cap.-Av. Manuel Rogério de Souza Coelho, attacked a submarine at the height of Iguape (SP), without achieving visible damage.

With the end of the war, the "Vultizões" were deactivated in 1946.

My model is designed by Carlos Liberatto in 2006/7 is a free model since the original site "FAB in Paper" not exist I put in Download Area. Gerry papermodels repaint this model to represent a chinese V11G, you get in Ecardmodels , is a free model too.

Until the next

Nice Vultee V-11 GB; I like all the Vultee family planes and this LatinAmerican example is nice to the sight. Best Regards and waiting for your next Forca Aerea Brasileira construction.

My friend

I don't get into the technical controversy because I am not very knowledgeable about current aviation. What I meant is that currently within the military aviation scene of Latin America, the only aircraft that can face the Grippen is the Su-30 from Venezuela. Chile has a relatively modern fleet of F-16s, but a technological step back, Uruguay and Paraguay, have not had fighter planes proper for more than 50 years. Argentina that before the Malvinas War was one of the most modern Air Forces on the continent, today it is reduced to 7 Super Entendart NG and a handful of A-4AR, Colombia used T-33 Shooting Star until 2018, some of which had been built in 1955 ! Ecuador still uses Kfir and Mirage F1, Peru has an interesting air force, but a generation and a half ago with Mirage 2000P and MiG-29 some with more than 25 years of manufacture, so the scenario of the countries neighboring Brazil apart from Chile and Venezuela is scrapping and obsolete its military assets in relation to aircraft.

The situation of the FAB in terms of technology is also not good, the Mirage 2000Br were retired in 2017 since then. The only pure FAB fighter was the modernization of the F-5E called EM, which was made by Embraer, which improved the avionics by giving the F-5 "look down" and fire more modern AAM in addition to updating the data links. But otherwise it is really an airplane and some of these cells were manufactured in the 1970s. Some local analysts indicate that the FAB will be able to operate these aircraft perhaps another ten years, but then the production of the Grippen is expected to solve the problem.

In the Naval Aviation of the Brazilian Navy (AN-MB) the situation is even more serious. The Skyhawks that were left over from the purchase of A4K in 1999 locally called AF-1 "Falcão" (Hawk) with the deactivation of the NAe São Paulo Aircraft Carrier today were based on land, a handful of them have already undergone 4 IRANS and two modernizations but are on the edge. Naval versions of the Grippen are being studied, but the acquisition of other aircraft such as the Rafale or even the F-35 is not ruled out, for the construction of a new aircraft carrier or in the case of the second type being used in the multi-purpose ship NMP "Atlantico"

However, the disaster of the foreign policy of the current Brazilian administration, can freeze these plans for many years.

Time will tell.

Number 7 - Sikorsky SH-34G Seabat

The history of the acquisition of the SH-34 dates back to the incorporation of the aircraft carrier Minas Gerais in England in 1956. By a stupid decree from a strategic point of view, the Brazilian Navy lost its naval aviation in 1941 with the creation of the FAB and was prohibited from have aircraft being the responsibility of the FAB to operate aircraft on the new aircraft carrier. This situation almost led to an armed conflict between the two forces because the Brazilian Navy was literally buying with its own endowment such as TBM-3W and T-28 Trojan aircraft, to resolve the impasse a new presidential law was created giving the Navy the possibility operate rotary wing aircraft. The FAB in 1960 had ordered six H-34 equivalent to the HSS-1 version to operate in the NAeL Minas Gerais, it operated these helicopters for some years (never shipped on the aircraft carrier because the Navy refused the FAB air group on its ship. ), and later passed them on to the Navy forming the Helicopter Squadron HS-1 "Pelicano" in 1965, known in naval aviation as "Whale" these helicopters operated for ten years with great efficiency until being replaced by the SH-3D Seaking in 1975.
