P-51D "Miss Kat Brat" by zarkovmodels

Some time ago, I placed a building report on Emil Zarkovīs P-51D "Miss Kat Brat" from Emil Zarkov :: ModelArt :: Card Models :: ZarkovModels Store in the german www.flugzeugforum.de They go a lively modelers community there, but no paper modelers, just plastic. My building report was quite well received and I might have moved some to try paper models for once or once more.

O.K., about the P-51D: I like Emilīs models because they are really well constructed, parts fit is excellent and they look right without being overly complicated. Just right for some good modeling enjoyment.

This has attracted some individuals who repainted the P-51, obviously without Emilīs consent and published them on some platforms that offer pirated models without asking for payment at Emilīs benefit. Looks like Emil has found an agreement with them, so now he publishes their repaints of varying quality as 3 collections at a vastly reduced price. One of them is this model, clearly among the best repaints. You may find very little informations on the real "Miss Kat Brat" on the net, still it is a very attractive model of a true classic.

Things I changed: Gave the spinner more segments from a download at www.cutandold.info and I put it on a base from the same source. The P-51C Excalibur III is one of my next projects, so stay tuned.

Enjoy!

Cheers, Martin

Your model looks very clean and well done. It moves me to put a P-51D on my own construction agenda.

I agree. Many years ago, I often recommend Dr. Zarkov's models for those very reasons. After building dozens of planes, his Messerschmitt Bf 109 remains one of my favorites.

Well done! I like the presentation as well. For the uninitiated, this is definitely one of those "I can't believe it's not plastic" models.
