Thanks so much Isaac and YOAV...

I started the extensive wing fillets with the rear section which seemed pretty dang torturous to me in terms of how to pre-fold, roll, test fit etc. There is a neat placement of a scalloped former at the edge that really helps a lot. All I did differently was to thin the edges of the fillet skin a bit with sand paper hoping for a nice, thin, neat overlap on the existing skins to limit any huge step and I think I got it. Really...all you do is brainlessly follow the guide lines, glue slowly and carefully letting things cure as you go and you, amazingly, end up with things matching! I just can't get over how the bottom of the "A" and "G" actually look good. I trust the rest of the fillets will go just as well. I know the tail fillets were largely drama-free.

Here's hoping...Cheers,
Dan

Your fillet fitting went very well! I thin the edges of my parts before gluing the trailing edges of wings, stabilizers etc., as well as the fillets.

I find it hard to believe that Halinski missed the yellow part of the roundels on the
fillets. I'm certain you will match the color almost perfectly.

Hmmmmm. I too am perplexed as to the yellow roundel not extending to the fillet.

maybe this was a field repair and the fillet was replaced without being fully painted? Probably not.

If appropriate, you can print the roundel on thin paper, cut the section you need , and apply it to the fillet to match.

Love your way of dealing with the Halinski challenge, progressing beautifully,
As for the roundal you may want to consider using the second version.

Thanks, Folks...
The first thing I did was to check the cover art work to see if maybe that missing roundel was actually true. Alas, it's in the artwork. However, you CAN see it's missing in the pictures of the completed model on the back side of the kit so I think it was just a miss. I'll see if I can find a real picture of the actual machine in the hopes that Isaac is correct.

It will be pretty easy to fix, though so I'm not too worried.

Worried is putting the rest of the fillets on and having them match/fit! Although, with only a couple of exceptions that were likely pilot error, all my worst fit fears have not materialized. Dang these Halinski guys!

More tonight...Dan

Here's an image from the RAF Squadron 112 website:

There is clearly some sort of damage to the roundel.

Hi all,

The missing part of a roundel is not a mistake, it is not a field modification, it is not a damage. Simply aircrafts was factory painted before assembling. Squadron identification letters (GA) was painted in the unit.

More here: Camouflage & Markings of No. 112 Squadron RAF (Part 1)

Best,
Bestia

If the id letters were painted in the unit, they would be on the fillet.
