1/33 PZL-23B Karaś

I started to work on another aircraft. A WW2 Polish light bomber/reconnaissance aircraft PZL-23B Karaś. It's from Mały Modelarz, scale 1/33.
Won't be an easy model. This one is really difficult and only the experienced modelers should consider building it. In the next reports, I'll be trying to explain all the difficulties and I'll also try to give you some advice.
When the model's finished, I hope to write a bit about the history of this plane.

This is a nice plane. I built the Fly model version many years ago and it was a fun build.

I purchased a newly printed Fly model of the same kit that was refreshed and also comes in a Polish and Hungarian versions.

Good luck.

The promised report.
As I already said, the model is really difficult and you need a lot of your own invention in some places. And what doesn't make the whole build easier is the unclear instruction. Often I just have to trust my intuition and knowledge to go further.
I would say that this kit is quite as complex as Halinski's designs, which are overrated and modeler-unfriendly in my opinion, by the way. These new MMs are really good but you just have to keep in mind that they require some experience too. Their new texturing is what I really like, especially if we compare it to the older kits of this publisher. There's a huge difference but of course the times and capabilities were different 30, 40 or 50 years ago
Another thing I should mention is that the model is intended to be built without joiner stripes, they're not included in the kit, and that's not a good idea. I strongly recommend making them because they allow you to make the fuselage smoother and more solid.
The segments you can see in the photos are not glued together yet.
If there are any questions, feel free to ask. Sometimes I may forget to write something important so if you can't see the answer you looked for, just ask.

New report.
And what I want you to hear first, is - stay as far as you can from this kit. It seemed to be a nice design and made a good impression but looks like it was just an illusion. Now, when I have many parts ready to put them together, it turns out that something either doesn't fit or goes in the wrong place. Today I had to completely remove the cockpit and install it inside again. Couple elements were damaged during this and they required repairs. So, that's an example of what you can expect from this new 2005 MM. Here, in this report, only the two last pictures are from today, with cockpit correctly installed.
Many years ago, I did the earlier version from MM, year 1969 I think, and it was a way better design. I still have a photo of my old Karaś somewhere. I'll try to find it and if I do that, I'll show it in the next report.

New report.
I'm still struggling with this model although a lot has been done since my last post. And by the way, I'd like to warn you about one thing. It's the instruction, again, yes. It's not just unclear, I found there're also swapped numbers of some twin parts, two similar parts, one goes to the left side and another goes to the right side for example. So, be aware of this.

I purchased a reprint of the FLY model 2 years ago. It has both the Polish and Romanian versions.
