The sweep back was a quick way that Messerschmidt could keep the CofG within reasonable limits when the tricycle undercarriage was added to the Me262 and the BMW003 engines proved to be heavier than originally specified. The earliest Me262s were tailwheel aircraft and this caused all sorts of problems with getting the aircraft to unstick on takeoff. The sweepback was quite modest - about 18 degrees - exactly how much improvement there was compared to a straight wing at high speed was probably also fairly modest.

Cool Canopy making

There are two ways of making a transparent canopy. Use flat sheets cut and formed into the frames, or vacuforming a one piece unit. I always choose the vacuforming method ( primarily because it is difficult for me to assemble small flat parts ).

here is the paper canopy for a quick dry fit
Heinkel He-280 1/33 Marek design-img_3344.jpg

the paper canopy is used to build a tub ( with external reinforcements ) in which I will pour plaster of Paris to make a positive. When dried overnight, I then clean and make small repairs.

I vacuformed the canopy. This time I made two at the same time. The other small canopy is for the Trident II models I built earlier.

Cool Done

That is all the work on this model.

Conclusion :
-easy to build
-nice colors
-relatively simple
-little detail.

I would recommend it if you want a quick build of a model that is rarely modeled, but still looks good.

Thanks for the log - turned out great.

Quick question - what printer and paper do you use?

Thanks,

Gene K

I am using my old Epson WorkForce 630 printer scanner

The paper is 160 gsm A4 format card stock I get from Japan ( but I think it is available in the USA somehow; I forgot where ) called Hyper Laser Copy
Heinkel He-280 1/33 Marek design-paper-hyper-laser-copy.jpg This is the 200 GSM, but the 160 GSM is better for this model.

It was an enjoyable build. It would have been nice to also build the grey prototype version, but I wanted a bit more color.

Thanks

Isaac

Congratulations on another outstanding model, Isaac.

I always enjoy watching you build, and I always learn a lot from your sharp images and clear, precise narrative, not to mention the information on aviation history that often appears from you and the other posters.
