The printed copies of KLM and Spirit of Freedom (Berlin Airlift) have just come in. I really hope for a lot of orders so I can give designer Cor some compensation for all his work! I only keep the printing costs for myself. Mail your order to [email protected]

Engines

It's been a while but as good as time permits I've continued with the build. As a side track to the wing assembly I'm focusing now on the engines and nacelles. They're not overly complicated but it's simply quite a lot of work. Herewith a short status update. The preparation of 56 cylinders is a boring and repetitive job but although I'm still in the process of preparing the radial engines, the end result must be worth it.

Cheers,
Erik

Engines - Continued

Thanks David! Finally the build is getting a bit of a momentum again and herewith a short update. Each radial engine consists of 14 cylinders, grouped in two circular rows. That's 56 of them altogether, so still 42 to go...

The model leaves the option to go for this elaborate part of the build or to use the simple option (a flat-faced engine) on a former. Judge for yourself but as I said before, the extra work is really worth the effort. The detailed engine looks by far much better.

The building instructions are not very detailed and to get a better feel of where and how the various parts are to be accurately positioned, I'm building a backlog of subassemblies before ultimately gluing them together.

That's it for now,
Erik

Outstanding work, Erik.

I bought this model and fully realize how complex and detailed it is. Fascinating to see you build yours.

Just received my copy of the printed version. It is I believe one of the most detailed models I have ever seen. The printing is outstanding, maybe I should keep it as a book and browse through it on a rainy sunday afternoon.
Compliments!
