The ailerons and flaps are separate on this build.




There is an inner core to each surface.


Nice touch. I do like separate control surfaces and flaps when it looks good.


Wings are next.

The wings are relatively simple to build. The main landing gear bays are installed first.


Notice the complicated and form fitted shape



The inner wing structure had to be cut into two section because of lack of clearance around the gear bay and the wing inner leading edge.




now glue the rear portion of the framing. Then match the forward frame.




then glue the forward section of the framing. I added a wood coffee stirrer along the leading edge to restore the structural strength lost when I separated the framing.

first lets dry fit the ailerons and flaps



then a quick check of the wings on before gluing them on. The metal pins are great structural support and alignment tool.




Here the wings are on. Add the thin wing root fillet.

She's looking great with the wings on. Definitely looks like an aircraft.

As I stated upfront, I purchased the plastic resin wheels for this model. However, the laser cut frame set came with multiple discs to make them. So I decided to hold on to the plastic ones for future Suchoi projects I have and make the wheels out of the card discs.
