There are eight guide holes in the bottom of the upper wing, which are now to accommodate the various struts between the lower and upper wings.
I proceeded in such a way that I first installed the four struts, which lie close to the fuselage, were installed. To do this, I placed the wing upside down on a container that was large enough inside to hold the MG. Now I tried to insert the four thicker props into the four holes in the upper wing. With a little patience, I succeeded. Right after that, before the glue set, I inserted the four outer struts, first into the holes of the upper wing, then into those of the lower wing. |

Surprisingly, everything worked out very well, so that the glue could now cure.
It was hard to believe how stable the many connections held later. Now I could attach the last part of the MG. |

The final work was done at the Royal Aircraft Factory:
Pulling the bracing and attaching the propeller. Building the propeller was still the much easier work. In order to be able to pull the "strings" correctly, first various and eyelets had to be attached to the model. But then it was time to get started: glue long strings of rigging yarn to fixed points and then according to the instructions from the sketches with a needle criss-cross from a from one fixed point to another. But how to hold the large model in time? Simply laying it on its back was not possible because of the MG. Again, a larger can helped me, in which the MG could rain. Today I could finally put the model on a garden table and take pictures from all sides. |
