Battle Of Midway models project

Long story short: a while back I realised Bruno has models of most,if not all, of planes that took part in Battle of Midway. It also occured to me that there not many models made in colors of plane that took part in it. This thread will be a remedy for that.

Project will feature mostly Bruno designed model but others will show up too. Most of models will be recolors made by our dear friend Rata aka Garry but again, others will be featured as well.

If you have a paper model of one of those planes regardless of make or scale feel free to post your pictures. It doesn't have to be new build. Old builds are just as cool imho.

This is not my thread. Consider it a small tribute to all those who took part in that battle regardless what side they were on.

First up TBF Avenger recolor by Garry.

Don't mind few mistakes on the model. This is beta so they will be corrected before model lands on ecards. Enjoy.

Great project, Karol, and excellent work on that model.

Quite a historic airplane!

I look forward to tracking this thread.

Hello,

Nice looking model and a good idea to consolidate some models into the 'order of battle'.

Good luck!

Apart from the obvious easily rectified repaint errors (how the heck did I miss that camo misalignment on the rear fuselage??! ), good to see the TBF-1 goes together reasonably well. The landing gear addition looks ok from here too. Good work as usual Karol.
BTW, this is a 1/100 repaint of an S&P freebie from this very site, so when it's fixed I'll submit for approval to share in the Downloads section.

Wonderful idea to collect all types of planes engaged in performing or neutralisation of the Yamamoto's "Operation MI"!

I am especially happy you have chosen Grumman TBF Avenger as the first of all. Of course, this type had no decisive impact on the battle itself, as only six TBF-1s took part in it, five of which were lost. However I am especially fond of the shape of this warbird and I consider Avenger to be very elegant and eye-catching (despite of its vulnerability, but it is a modeller's point of view, not aviator's ). Few years ago when I tried to choose the single aeroplane type to represent all the US planes involved into the Pacific war, I thought of TBF first.

Keep it up!
