Thanks Erik and CM...invasion stripes indeed! I do think, based on the photos I've seen, they were at least applied with a bit less haste...

Tonight I masked and added the crosses. Looking cool now. Some touch up is needed on the left rudder cross but overall it looks good enough for the girls we date.

I'll start the wings tomorrow...Dan

The painting looks very good, you have really managed to capture the striped Fokker-finish!

Very nice work, both construction and painting.

Thanks, YOAV! Sincerely appreciated.

I got the mid wing done. Aside from some sanding of the leading edge of the formers (there were 22 of them slotted around a flat spar) to make sure the trailing edges matched, all went incredibly smoothly. Even the wing tips are very Dr. I-ish. I'm pleased. I think I'll try the lower wing next as that one supposedly has the wire inside so we'll see how that matches up. I'll get all the wings made (and the sub-wing too) before I paint them all at once.

Thanks for looking,
Dan

Looking very good Dan, you're very good at making over . I wonder, did you press on the wing skin after the entire assembly, to imitate the tight spanning of cloth over the wing formers, or is it just the print that suggests this effect?

Regards,
Erik

Thanks Erik and Don. Erik: I did try and make connections at the ribs very positive so maybe that's the look you are thinking of. It's hard to tell being black. It will be even harder when it's all streaky! Don: Heck yeah! Those guys have always helped...:-)

I started the bottom wings. Even though there are two bits of piano wire to position the bottom wing, I think I'll just use the leading edge member. That will make it easier to get it installed and I'll have some wiggle room too. I'll work on the other side tomorrow and start seeing if the I-struts line up too.

Getting exciting now!

Dan

Fantastic paint work Dan. The positive wing ribs look very realistic. Well done.
