AN-225 with Buran Memorial Build Thread.

Greetings all, As many of us are aware the reports from Ukraine are not looking good for a beloved heavy lift aircraft. Mriya the only AN-225 was reportedly destroyed. While we wont know her eventual fate for quite some time because of the ongoing conflict it seems apropos to build something to honor the Legacy of the Beautiful Giant. I started this yesterday (2/27/22) and will be documenting the build process here, Which is actually the first one I've done here.

The flight deck and a portion of the forward Cargo Door are finished and will be finishing up the forward portion this evening.

Let's hope Mriya survived or at least is repairable and best of luck with your tribute build.

Lets hope, from a logistics stand point loosing such a capable aircraft is devastating, not to mention the morale hit to the Ukrainian people. They truly loved that aircraft because it took their flag everywhere.

There are several photos of the hanger with bomb damage and fire. The aircraft survived the first attack on the airport but was confirmed destroyed in the subsequent fighting.

We hope that the promised two new An-225 to be built with Chinese help will go ahead.

While I know I didn't post yesterday (Something I ate didn't agree with me) or get much of anything done on Mriya yesterday. I did manage to get a few hours in at my modeling desk this evening and have added a couple segments to the main fuselage

Would love to say it only suffered minor damage but it was not to be. Sad end to a magnificent aircraft.

Horribly sad :( Ukraine has said that they will rebuild the 225 though!

All too true. A terrible end to a giant of the sky. One can only hope that someday her memory will be restored, and she will fly again.
