Oh wow, what a small surgery in this engine! Beautiful work Tappi, and indeed, the ones who are able to design this are Masters too. Paper art at molecular level

Thanks a lot Erik. I do have liking for smaller scales but this one is the most popular model scale 1/72 and during my 'plastic times' I built pretty much just this scale.
Today's achievement was the tail section of the bird. Builds well and is designed with precision so no surprises here. Tappi

Nice work Tappi.
That tail assembly reminds me SO much of the frame of the balsa and tissue flying model kits I occasionally built (or tried to). Takes me back to names like Guillows, Keil Kraft and Comet.

Mine is a plain version http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/726366-post1.html without painting but with a rotatable prop.
Still admiring Tapcho’s SE5 and will have to take hundreds of deeeeep breaths to try to build it.

What a fine build papermate! I see this for the first time (missed it during my absent years) and I love it. Fine work indeed.
@Rata - built those too many years ago. I loved cornstructing the frame but the absolute wonder was to cover it with tissue and then tighten it. Brilliant stuff. Started to build the fuselage as per instructions but as it went south I made a change of plans. Sanvador's structural vertical beams are ok and very much neede if you build this from copy paper like he does and suggests. But having cut my parts from cardboard I can have structural strenth by other means. Since I was anyway going to add more scalewise vertical runners to the fuselage I discarded the kit beams altogether. Much more lighter appearance to my eyes. But enough assembly thrills for me with these proceedings. More later. Tappi

Fascinating project.
Does this model have a quoted scale? I just measured the cowl diameter of one of my built S&P 1/100 I-16's and it's about 14mm. You said in an earlier post the engine is 16mm so your model would be larger but not by a lot.

Change of plans, once again. The little plane is now finished but not the way I planned. Something happened with the geometry of the fuselage and wings and I wasn't able to detail them as I wanted. I also discarded the idea of making formers for the engine cowlings pretty much for the same reason. So this kit is now officially my 'Rubik's cube' - million ways to solve/finnish and not one right. I may have to give this yet another try, maybe 2024.
But I did reach few goals I set to myself: 1. No CA glue. Only PVA. 2. It is the desired 'white model' I was looking after. 3. It looks nice with the clock. 4. I did some miniscule additions that pleases my eyes. Those being: - frame for the cockpit hatch - frames for the windshield - correctly cut and positioned landing gear covers Here are the final pics of a very pleasant and fun build.
