Ki-84 Hayate (Frank) 1/33 Modelcard

Hoping this is a nice simple build. So far, so good.

Hand drawn. A few color errors in the gray covered by pencil shading.

Cockpit very basic.

Joining strips are needed between fuselage sections as only single formers at each joint.

Front fuselage/cowl gun depressions are not well defined.

Engine former needs sanded to a bevel on the edges for fit to front cowl ring.

Intake scoop needs work to fit decently.

Still, lots of progress in one day.

Greg

Always nice to see IJAAS aircraft. You've done a great job on the fuselage Greg.

Best wishes on the construction of this old kit.

The model is in the markings of Aircraft No. 7 of the 58th Shimbutai (Special Attack Unit), based at Miyakonojō Air Field in Kyushu, Japan, in the spring of 1945. Some sources say this aircraft was flown by Lieutenant Ueda Toku.

Thanks Gary and Don.

The history is very interesting Don, thanks for offering it.

Wings. The rear most wing root area looks a mess underneath.
I could not get it to fit well.

I would be overjoyed if the wing roots of any of my model aircraft ever looked that good!

I bought that model along with few others when it was new. Good old mail order times. I traded it away since Japanese aviation didn't interest me at the time. I'm happy to see someone is building it.

I still have PZL P-7 but it needs scan and some serious corrections since colors are moved. Printers error.

Thanks for the kudos and the support.

Canopy and other details added tonight. Not perfect, in my eyes, but good enough.

I've been building a lot of hand drawn models lately, my next model was going to be hand drawn as well, may need to rethink this and do a computer drawn one next....

I think you are being a bit harsh on yourself, that airframe is going places.
