Don't be dissapointed when the leading edge looks a bit fiddely, it's solved when you attach the bottom and upper parts :D

Billy,
This looks really fantastic! For many years, plastic aircraft modelers have been experimenting and searching for ways to imitate raw metal panels on their models. This includes different shades such as the side gun covers on the F86 Sabre. Fortunately, model paint companies have developed buffable metalic paints that come pretty darn close. In the paper modeling world, commercial pre-printed kits have metalized ink to represent aluminum, steel and other metals. But digital models that are printed on home-based inkjet printers have a disadvantage; until now that is. What I like about the method we are using here is that the model is designed with multiple shades of gray. When printed on the silver paper, the multiple shades come through - as shown in your pictures. This actually looks like Testors metalized paint! Exciting stuff! |

I totaly agree,
IMHO you can even higher the contrast or darken the colour for the different body panels, printing on the Red river paper will fade the colour/contrast more than "normal" paper I don't know if you are familiar with Nobi's designs? but sofar they are quite simular as yours, he doesn't colour different bodypanels, or use any "ageing" Have a look at this Monogram model, I like the different colours of the panels B-58 Hustler by Paul Coudeyrette (Monogram 1/48) |

Just a little set-back...
It has nothing to do with Ken's design that's perfect sofar I didn't liked the surface of the wing area; just not smooth enough, the problem is that RR paper is only 140 gsm, the connecting strips are showing through the surface, and it is just not strong enough to make a nice leading edge, I should laminate it too, so I will, I tried to get it of the innerstucture but that ruined it |

This is what the development of these models is really like, especially when we push the envelope with techniques and materials that are not what we are used to. Most models are released without the general public ever knowing the "crash and burns" that had to happen along the way. This is a good example of it. The end result is always worth the effort though, as this project will eventually show.
Keep going Billy; I know you are probably more determined now than before. Ken |

I'm almost back to the point where it went wrong;
I even could improve some things; the surface of the innerstructure is now completly smooth and I re-enforced the delicate ends of the formers with super-glue :D |
