Great job on the instrument panel. I always try to layer my panels also. To get the glass look for the instruments sometimes I use a drop of thinned white glue. not too much or it will look like a fogged lenses. clear acetate over the lense layer or a piece of clear tape over the lense layer.

Coming together beautifully! Did I make a mistake in seeing "laser Printed"? I can't be getting that old yet....Please let me know how it takes the folding and scoring etc.
Oh how I wish I had a good punch set Ron

ron its not a misteak
it is laser printed kit i did it my self at work on a hp 2820 it really doesnt like any think over 65 # so i have to plan the print with that in mind. because of that i only print on 20# and 65# and transparancies and keep alot of .5mm 1mm and 2mm card stock at home i dont have issues with toner flaking from the model because i seal each printed page with this stuff i get at walmart to seal printed stuff did some posts on it on z but this is it basically patricia nimocks decoratve crafts clear acrylic sealer in matte it is a clear waterproof sealer that does the job it does many thing for the printed page it lets you wipe off wet glue if you put too much on it and seals the toner to the page it works so well that i only laser print my kits now also i use a testors scoring pen to score with i generally try not to score on top of the toner i use a thumb tack to mark score lines and score on the back side of the page if there is a major score line , if small score then i just do it on top generally this process works exceptionally well and the level of detail provided from the laser printer is outstanding over inkjet i have done comparision prints of the same kits in inkjet and laser color and detail and resolution are all far superior on laser and if you seal the laser printed pages there is no reason not to use laser and finally yes you pay more for toner up front maybe 150-200 per color toner cartridge but they can last 50000 page duty cycle each and cost pennies per page to print sorry to write a book on the process and hyjack my own thread lol but i thought you would liek to know, hope you come to the laser side lol /soapbox off hermit links referred to in article sealer for laser printed pages Plaid ® Patricia Nimocks™ Clear Acrylic Sealers - Matte, 6 oz. by Plaid printer used in building of model HP Color LaserJet 2820 All-in-One Series model kit printed in article HELLCAT F6-F5N ML Paper Models: Home Page Scoring pen from testors Testors » Hobby Knives & Tools » Model Building Supplies » Scriber worth every penny i spent |

It's looking very nice! It's good to see someone else with side builds going on.

i really dont know why i didnt think about this before i tried to use glue for glass on the inst panel
lol like you have a drill punch annd like you have transparancy foil ummm use both of those ideas together homer... doh! i dont like the glue but i thought i would just use drill to puch some circles of foil and tried insetting the circle of foil in a hole punched in card well the results are outstanding and waaaaaaaaaay better than the crappy glue experiment it looks so real with the foil it looks like it is glass well the batteries are dead in cam so i will recharge them while i go print a new sheet at work and show you when i get back |

Hermit, this is looking soooo gooood!! As a lover of the models of Dr. Zarkhov, I must say you are doing a great job here.
And of course, I'll use it as a reference when I buy mine. |

You may also wish to try sandwiching the foil between the panel and the backing layer. This way you won't have to punch out all the foil circles.

well i could sandwich it but i really wanted a custom look to it and the hole punch drill is so easy to use like this
and it really looks good really really good and it is flat unlike the sandwich method so i like how it fits together as in real life well photos next |
