Model Art Hellcat F6F5N side build

decided to do a side build of Modelarts Hellcat as i work on the USS Essex.

1/33 laser print

very nice looking model

i really thought it would be neat to have some 1/33 models of the planes on the flight deck of the carrier

hopeing to incorporate it into a diorama of the finished carrier stand

we will see how that developes.

i intend to build it hard style with the detailed engine and cockpit and will

try to add some custom scratch stuff to it while we wait for the under hull of the carrier to be completed...

the front engine section is th toughest build i have ever done

allready rebuilt it 3x and wiped

im bringing a big stick this time and upping the .5mm former for the front to 2mm and well finally makes it work

i crushed the former 2x @ .5mm trying to get all to stay glued it just wasnt working

but switch to 2mm former and omg its golden

it glued perfectly with my case of uhu glue i ordered

i im totally switching from aelleen tacky to this magic non water glue

i love it and have no problem paying 25$ for a box of them lol

and yes thats a 2mm card former in front

here are some inside pics of the front engine compartment

it really glued together topnotch with the thickened formeri just dont see how you could do it reasonable with a .5mm former in front and i killed it 3x

im really happy with it
its the hardest thing i have put together well

enjoy

i am going to try glassing the cockpit instruments and see how that goes

allways wanted to try that and since i have the japanise hole puncher thingie might as well give it a go!!!

this plane is really challenging me and is alot of fun

I built that kit too - it's like a Hasegawa plastic kit. You're doing it justice too. <S>

Ah! A very well-built WWII USN fighter. I love it. Many thanks for the clear photos and twitterfied explanations. Good reference for a model I would like to build myself . . . although I am not sanguine about my ability to cut a 2mm former as well as you . . . never mind a 2mm circlesaurus.
