Note on Alignment

One more thing I wanted to note about aligning the booms front to back.

The grid on the cutting matt was invaluable. Made it quite easy.

Just goes to show what can be done with a basic kit in the hands of an imaginative and skillful builder. That wicker seat is the schizzle! Now, you have me scratching my head thinking of similar materials for smaller scales.

Thanks, cd!

Charles, maybe for smaller scales you could use wire screening (like a door screen or filter) painted the appropriate color.

I just used synthetic screen for a high-gain antenna on a Ranger spacecraft and it looks great. For this application, the non-woven synthetic was perfect.

Tail and More Rigging

OK, last post this week until I'm back from vacation, I promise.

In the stabilizer and the rudder I ran lengths of the wire to keep them from ever sagging or curling. Also gives a nice spot to bend them from if desired.

On the real plane it looks like the bottom of the rudder is pinned in similar to the photo, so bully for me!
I glued the stabilizer in the correct place and it pretty much hides the extra bit I glued across the rear top of the booms.

After this it was rigging, rigging, and more rigging. I used the dreaded thread but have not had fuzzies from it. I'd cut a length and work it as far as I could, even if it took me to different spars and places. I'd trim off any that didn't belong in a particular spot.

The last pieces I need to make are the machine gun, the ammo drums and holders, propeller (in progress) and a few more bits of rigging ( if you can believe that ).

Thanks all for looking and your support. I love this forum.

Thumbs up

Absolutely Beautful Joe. Really great build and wonderful detail. I know what you mean about the rigging I built the small version of #4 and I think there is as much thread as paper in this model:D:D
Have a great vacation, see you when you get back

Very, very nice. All your details really enhanced the model. And the rigging is excellently done.
