DGA competition builds

Decided to start off the DGA build competition put on by Chris at ecardmodels.com with one of the Lockheed T-33's. This is the USAF 123 FIS livery. Didn't take pics as I built because I misplaced the camera and the build went so quickly, so here's the finished model:

Druine D.31 Turbulent

Building two of these little aerobatic ultralights. The call numbers match up with two of the planes owned by the Tiger Club out of the UK, though I think the red one crashed recently.

Oh yea, I scaled these down to 1:72 (as I did with the T-33) so they're a bit fiddly, but going together well and it shouldn't show in the final pics for Chris.

KEWL! Only final pics needed so no worries there - appreciate the thread though! I like the side by sides

Not only are these the first planes I've ever built a cockpit for, but its my first time trying out acetate windshields - seems that Aleene's fast grab isn't quite the right stuff, but it's the best I've got. Also got the engine cowlings done.

Thanks Chris, it took a while to grab, even with the Fast Grab variant, and I still needed to apply a thin layer on the outside of the edge to hold it in but after 24 hours I'm confident it's not going anywhere. Maybe I'll try superglue next time.

Anyway, got the engine heads and pipes done, along with the props. All that's left now is the gear. Looking like fine craft now.

I'm also thinking of doing a repaint and adding the third primary color to the mix. It's another Tiger Club plane, the G-ARNZ (these two are the G-ARMZ and G-APTZ), if it's ok w/ DGA:

Completed Druine D.31 Turbulents

Well, after this build I'm now a big fan of Aleene's Tacky Glue, and more so, the Fast Grab variant. The FG was quite useful in putting together the little bits like engine pipes and landing gear.

Next up, I think is the Lockheed P-80 and then I'm not sure what. Gotta check that list to see what's left.

Blackhawk Comics - Lockheed P-80 - 1:72 scale

Four down, plenty more to go if I'm going to get back in the running for this competition. :p

Willys Jeep in 1:72

Rescaled the Jeep to 1:72 as well and not until printing it out did I realize how tiny the Jeep is compared to the planes. O-well, it just took a little longer but I think it came out pretty well for its size:

Oh yea, and this one is actually all paper - the "clear" window material I used was from an envelope window at work. Turns out it's some type of translucent waxpaper so it glued up nice and works well at the scale.
