Smile My experiments with UMC Tool in 1/100

Well friends!

Giving a break in the DGA builds I decided to show the first results I had using the UMC tool available for download here: PaperModelers.com - Downloads - UMC213.zip

For those who do not know this tool writen by a Plastic Bonsai is a converter of various 3D formats, it is possible to transform multiple meshes used in games like Flight Simulator and Wings over Europe in a useful format that can be edited and processed in Papermodels. With Flight Simulator, the work is more complicated because not all models that can be converted, in addition to many multiresolution are a lot of work to clean because there are literally three or four models within each other. But with the games of Thirware Productions is simpler, because in general the games of these company use three models ranging from simple to complex. For this experiment, I chose an add-on pra the game Wings Over Europe, the Soviet Fighter Yakovlev Yak-25, the model was transformed directly to the MQO format by UMC. I simplified and edited in Metasequoia and subsequently deployed in Pepakura 3.

The results:

This model as many breaks and this a careful build. I'm not a permission for share by 3D model and texture author (I contact but no answer).

My next experiment is a Hawker Ninrod in Royal Danish Air Force colors the plane is extract from Combat Flight Simulator Add-On... :D

Excellent work. I hoped someone would find the tool to be of use in this way. A lot of models do not make good paper models straight away but they can be a start and an inspiration.

Thank's Alcides!

The Yakovlev Yak-25 "Flashlight A" OTAN code is all-whater interceptor designed in late 40's for IA-PVO, is a first soviet atempt to create a ambiental defense fighter linked in a radar chain network.

The use of Yak-25 is very short, is replace by Tupolev Tu-128 and a own development: The Yak-28 "Firebar".

One of most interesting versions of Yak-25, is a Yak 25 RV (Razvedchick Vysotnyj, "high-altitude reconnaissance") with huge span and know in a OTAN with nickname "Mandrake" used in 60's to spy Western Europe, and Far East, this version is very close to WB-57 in estrutural porpose.

My model represent a Yak-25M in service in IA-PVO in 1954.

I not have permission from author of meshe and texture to share this model.

But Geli produced all versions of Yak-25 in 1/33 scale, but i not found to buy, so i decided to make my own model.

My great friend Krzychu work in progress in the Yak-25 in 1/50, I know release date but I hope in 2010.

Very nice! Beats the hell out of 3-D printers on a cost basis too.
