A newbie designer's attempt Fokker D-VI
Here is my start on a Fokker d-VI. I know nothing of air craft design and I only started making paper models last January. I have been making designs on the computer with sketch up for only a few months now. I intend on getting Roman's new e-book soon (waiting on Christmas money!), but decided to play around a bit first. I plan on making this a 1/72 scale model, real simple, no real detail. Just a practice model. If it works out I will put it in the downloads for people who want a one hour kit to build! So here is a half start.:o

Looks like a good start. The D-VI is one of the simpler WWI aircraft with very little rigging so it ought to be a good place to start, only the rotary engine might be a little complex. I have the Kampflieger book, I was able to follow it so it's definetly geared towards beginners. I'll be following this thread closely as I would like to try designing myself someday.

I have a number of limitations working against me, including my lack of knowledge. I will also have to unfold part by part, as the waybe for sketch up will not work on this computer for some reason, it lock everything up. But, with time, I have been able to unfold other models, mostly ironclads, and they have turned out alright. So we shall see!

Good luck on this CT.

CT, if this turns out even half as good as your ships it will be a classic.

You can do it, CT... there's a couple of published D-VI's to give you ideas.
