One of my favorite birds. Really like the job you are doing with it. I just wish I could afford a Cleveland Models 3/4 scale version of this beauty. Current price for a complete in box copy of $250.00, designed and made available a year after the bird took to the air!:DRick

how suitable do you think their plans are for preparing paper models from? Wyvern |

Their plans are for "stick and tissue" models with all the necessary wing ribs and fuselage formers displayed. I would say that a builder of average skill could use their plans to scratch build from paper. The most difficult part would be the "trial and error" fitting of the skins since there is no provision for that on the Cleveland plans. This is less troublesome on the earlier aircraft with flat-sided fuselages and the like. I have ordered many of their pre-WW2 plans at 1:32 scale with the dream of converting them to paper models.

Wag - were the cockpit bird houses too small for the outline on the fuselage?

WOW! Not many models of the B-10 out there in any medium. This looks great!
The Air Force Museum has a great example in the same blue and yellow scheme. Ken |

Yes that's correct-the outline was about 2mm too wide. I tried to spread the sides of the canopy to cover it but it just wouldn't go that far. The rear canopy was ok.

More progress.
The engines and cowlings went on with no problems at all.A few moments with a silver sharpie marker really helps the inside of the cowls and airscoops. I assembled the kit wheels, but I happened to have some wheels left from a balsa model which were near perfect, just add the kit hubs and call it good. The props as they came were blue with yellow tips, which, from the photos I could find, should be natural metal without yellow tips. An easy fix in Photoshop, even for me. I left some of the blue-grey parts in the center section as they kind of looked like steel. I'm dreading the landing gear a little bit. I do have the Williams brothers plastic kit lurking in my basement if I need a reference. Wayne |
