Will Aldridge's XP-72 Super T-bolt (2 frames)

Well, after the hard drive crash I will recreate this thread best I can.
First things first, the thread with previous posts of the design is located here --> XP-72 Super T-bolt

Now, for the photos

Quick snap of all the parts to make the fuselage formers
Will Aldridge's XP-72 Super T-bolt (2 frames)-img_8025.jpg

The two different fuselage's together before getting into the nitty gritty.
I am doing two fuselages because one will be a wheels up in flight version and the other (newer parts closest to model release version) will be a wheels down, flaps down and canopy open version.

Continuing on with the cockpit area, we now have the cockpit walls to build up and install.

First up is a shot of the two sides of the cockpit after all parts installed onto the walls of the cockpit.
Will Aldridge's XP-72 Super T-bolt (2 frames)-img_8232.jpg

Next is a slight modification. Will pointed out that one lever was missing for the landing gear actuator, so I added it in there in the center part.

One wall installed. (note, this shot was taken before I installed the red lever for landing gear)

Second wall installed along with the canopy track on the rear deck of the cockpit.

And my last post for tonight we tackle the tail wheel.

First up, forming up the box which the tail wheel will attach.
Will Aldridge's XP-72 Super T-bolt (2 frames)-img_8331.jpg

Glued to the wheel well lining. Hmm, looks like the wire is the right length. I used a small paperclip and then superglued it to the lining.
Will Aldridge's XP-72 Super T-bolt (2 frames)-img_8332.jpg

Folded up the lining.
Will Aldridge's XP-72 Super T-bolt (2 frames)-img_8333.jpg

Yep, this angle looks good.
Will Aldridge's XP-72 Super T-bolt (2 frames)-img_8334.jpg

Glued in place, side profile.

a 45 degree view

Last view from underneath.

Next up is attaching the wing skins to the models. Hope to put up pictures of that sometime tomorrow or a couple days after.

WILL: Quick question for you. If you notice the second to last shot, there is a slight overhang of the wheel well liner. Should I trim it off to place the skins?

Looks pretty good Robert. Yeah just trim the tail gear bay liner. It's not critical to anything else, though I'm thinking about having to slide the aft fuselage skins over that tailwheel. You might be able to get all but the last one to slide over. We'll have to tinker with that. I've been working on painting the fuselage skins and you should have them in a couple of days.

Thanks Will.
Alright, I'll trim off the tail gear bay liner. I'm sure something can work getting the skins on over the tail wheel. The housing that it goes through was kinda flimsy. I figured that if I had attached the tail wheel last after the liner was glued in, that I would somehow push in the housing since the hole was a snug fit.

I'll be looking out for those other skin parts. :D

I very much enjoyed this step-by-step assembly of the tail wheel in its housing, Robert.

Time for a small update. Been working a little here and there on the XP-72...and this is where I am at tonight.

Back of instrument panel was completed.
Will Aldridge's XP-72 Super T-bolt (2 frames)-img_8343.jpg

And then installed.
Will Aldridge's XP-72 Super T-bolt (2 frames)-img_8344.jpg

Then I started working on skinning one of the frames. This one is the model version which will have wheels up and contra-rotating props.

View with the inboard wing skins.

All right, just a small update from me. :D With 3 more pictures. This frame is going to be the wheels down build.

First up is the shot of the parts which will be part of the flap area...of course hidden by the wing skin.
Will Aldridge's XP-72 Super T-bolt (2 frames)-img_8473.jpg

Next, I ran into a little snag. If you notice, those notches don't line up with the flap winglets. I was thinking the wing skin printed too big but was not sure....
Will Aldridge's XP-72 Super T-bolt (2 frames)-img_8476.jpg

Then I tried the wheel well....and lookie what I see. It did print too big. Well, the beauty of this fine hobby...we can reprint. I went ahead and reprinted in Photoshop this time to make sure that the print output was true to Will's intended 100% print. I think the skin pictured was printed with Adobe Reader which I've had problems with before.

Will: If this still does not fit, I'll let you know. I wonder if Alphadoc has come across this part yet.
