FJ-3 Fury

This is my most recent build (the fifth one) of the North American Fury available at USS WASP CV7

Obviously it is a custom repaint of my own, in the colors that I personally think the Fury looked best in. The model is only 1:100 scale, but I put a good bit more work into it than my past iterations. I built this model rather differently from many of my others;

- I printed the model on printer paper (for better clarity of texture) and then pasted the parts on cardstock before assembly.
- I used a mostly dull knife to trace all of the panel lines on the model, to indent them.
- I gave the model completely retractable landing gear (becoming more common among my builds)
- I gave the model drop tanks that can actually be dropped, using a small hook that slides into the wing to keep them on
- Finally, I coated the model first in regular white glue, and then in "Future" floor wax to give it that shine, while still allowing the printed texture to be seen.

While I was repainting the model in photoshop, I also added some exhaust scoring for both the guns and engine, and tried to make the rivets and panel lines stand out as much as possible against the dark blue.

If I ever rebuild this model (which may not happen, I'm quite satisfied with it), I'll probably scale it up, design a quick cockpit interior, and try to give her a fully sliding transparent canopy as well.

Good job, especially for that scale. I always liked the F-86 Sabre and it Naval variant.

Ah, so not quite the small scale I was led to believe.

No, the recolor isn't available, I'd have to ask the creator first.

Nice job Paragon! The Fury will always have a place in my heart, and my history. Back in '68 I was in training to be a jet engine mechanic. We practiced removing and installing the engines and what-not in FJ-4B's. As a graduation excercise, we had to start the engine in one of them and run er up. They must have had at least a couple dozen of them at NAS Memphis at ended their careers as "training aids". Yeah brings back a lot of memories and I guess reveals the fact that I aint a youngun anymore.
