An added note regarding a KLM version (and Wayne mentioned TWA)...
In researching the Constellation, I found that there are dozens of variants; both military and civillian. Engine combinations, passenger/cargo compartment variations, round vs square windows, nose cones, fuse lengths, wing configurations, optional wing tanks, and the list goes on and on. The reason I mention this is because the the opportunities for repaints are literally endless - however, you have to be careful to match the paint schemes with the hardware configurations. Ken |

Geez! He's got the fuse perfect! How on earth...??
And...I'll second the 1/24 scale.

I also read somewhere that because of the shape of the Constellation's fuselage, no two bulkheads were alike. Which makes Ken's undertaking even more amazing....
You see this guy work and you just have to wonder what rabbit he's pulling out of his hat next. He has no end of rabbits or hats. |

Scon10,
I didn't realize that there were so many paper versions in the marketplace. I've always thought that the current distribution system for this venue is seriously lacking. I believe Chris Gutzmer (and others) are blazing the trail with downloadable paper models. It has allowed independent designers to get "their stuff" in the publics' eye, and I have noticed that the quality of the offerings keep getting better and better. And, have you priced plastic kits lately?? There is a basic economic principle at work here: When beef gets too expensive, people buy pork. I really think that this paper trend is the "pork". Hopefully, paper will become as popular here in the US as it has been in Europe for a long time now. I haven't bought a plastic model in a long time - prices are out of control! David, You are correct - every bulkhead is different, but they are all perfect circles - except by the cockpit/nose section. Relatively speaking, the Connie is one of the easier designs I have done. The Hustler was a real challenge! Ken |
