Air Tahiti Nui, Airbus A340-300

I was wondering if anyone tried this Canon kit yet, or any other Canon plane kit?

I've been working on it for a while now and just started with the wing sub assemblies, like the engines. So far, there were a few fitting issues, but i blame that on the paper. Recommended was photo paper, but i used 160g/m^2 printer paper.

Lack of photo's because I simply didn't take them. ;p

Got around to taking photos after finally getting past the wings. All the engines are completed, but for easier handling I am leaving them off untill I finish the whole fuselage and the stand.

She is getting a bit bigger then I though... But so far, a relative good fit, good instructions too.

It isn't as clean, my dog sniffed it once, as you can see by the water damage on the second photo... The bottom has some big gaps in the seam, mostly due to the tabs and the paper thickness. Could have cut those off and made my own, but that was/is a bit above my skill right now. It is as straight as a ruler though, because Canon alternates the seam tabs.

Hi Legion.
Looks like your doing well with your build. Many thanks for showing us the pictures as well as the link to the aircraft.

Looks like it's one large aircraft model.

Good luck and looking forward to seeing your progress.

Cheers
Jim

Too bad the Boeing 747 from Canon is 1/144... If it had been in the same 1/120ish scale i'd build it as well.

She's done and looking very good, in my honest opinion.

Here are some older pictures, when she was still engine- and LG-less:

And here she is, with gears down and engines:

Some close up details:

Things i would do differently on a rebuild of her:
Tab strips on the main fuselage rings and most of the other parts, like the flap extenders.
Gluing the engines to the wings, before closing the wings.
Better landing gear, the current one is very fragile. I wouldn't dare to set her down on it...
