This is a fine model. I think that I did the panel by the old fashioned way. If you don't know what that is, look at the point of your Excel blade.

Glad to see this one restarted. Halinski builds are always rewarding.

Dan -- Glad to see work resuming on this Corsair Mk XLVI. That's fine craftsmanship on the instrument panel and some good technique advice. Don

Dan, nice to see this kit built, I've been looking at it for a long while, definately on my list of kits to get sometime, although the stack is taller than the list is long right now!

Dan, I made the formers for the La5 out of three layers of card with white glue, worked better than I expected, so think will use this on Hal Yak when I get to it. Is this what you are doing with this one? I find the warping is usually on the side the glue is applied, so added a layer to each side and pressed them, stiff from the lamination, but pretty flat.

Yes, the formers are layers of card made to be 1mm total thickness. I used 3m Type 77 spray glue though. With the spray glue you have to account for the thickness of the glue in addition to the paper.

Ok, so I finally bought my first Halinski, which just happens to be the Mustang Mk III, and lashed out for the lasercut formers and pre-formed canopy. What I've been looking for is a english translation of the instuctions, some I can figure out such as the symbol ^ means fold and glue. The *'s mean glue to card of whatever thickness, sissors mean cut out but others are a complete mystery. I've attached the symbols here.

I thought that we had these in our library here, but can't find them.

I got an English version of these when I bought my Halinski Hurricane a while ago. If you PM me with your e-mail address I'll scan it and send it to you.

Rick,
Top to bottom:
- cut out, cut
- roll tightly (arrow marks direction)
- roll into a tube
- roll onto template A
- fold and glue
- cut out after assembly
- front of the model
- L=left P=right
- laminate with 0.5mm card
- laminate with 1mm card
- laminate with 1.5mm card
- laminate with card (same thickness as the model sheet)
- laminate with two layers of card (as above)
- sand down according to the marked shape

Thanks Chris and Michael, no excuse now to put off starting any more...
Think I'll scan it first though, just so that I have a safety net.
