Ken, we all know by your past performance and actions that whatever you do will be superb. I am sure that everyone else on the forum knows that you are a superb designer, and that your output is worth whatever it takes to achieve.

Speaking only for myself now, as a neophyte designer, I have felt that you are the one designer to try to emulate, and I have done my best to achieve the same quality of fit, appearance, and overall caliber of product in my own design efforts.

We all know that whatever you do, it will be the best.

FINALLY! Some pictures...

Here is a group of snapshots I took out of Pepakura. The basic shapes are in place - now comes another difficult part; determining how to split up the panels so that the model doesn't look too faceted. With most aircraft this isn't a problem. But the blackbird is different because EVERYTHING is a compound curve. Learning as we go...

Awesome work, Ken... Really superlative.

I never cease to be amazed at the level of talent on this forum.

One can only hope to achieve that level of skill someday. Bravo, Ken!

Today I worked on the forward structure. The cockpit tubs and nose gear bay are built from the same parts. I also added some anti-torsional strips so that a straight airframe is guaranteed. The structure that you see below has interlocking pieces. It is critical that the bulkheads are located exactly in their fore/aft positions so that the exterior panels line up correctly. The longitudinal torsional strips will be marked where the bulkheads line up.

I know Billy is waiting patiently... maybe in a week or so, I can have quality parts sent to him and the fun can begin!

Here's an update for ya!

Here are some pictures of the inner structure and the outer skin panels for for the center wing section (the part between the engines). The 4 pieces sticking out of the sides is where the engine assemblies will slide on. Also note the structure inside the landing gear wells.
