Dave,
Of course A-10 is ugly. What do you expect when you take a 30mm cannon and strap an airplane to it?
The Hog was not built to be admired, but to kill Soviet armor and I LOVE this plane :D
BTW F-4 looks better than the more modern planes - just my 2 cents...

Ken, does this mean that an F-4 may be in the works? Doesn't matter if it's SEA camo, low-vis gray, Thunderbird red/white/blue or Blue Angel blue/gold. If you design it, it will be OUTSTANDING!:D

Just a suggestion.

Mike

A Phantom may be in the works down the line somewhere...

I remember about 20 years ago, I was at the Fort Wayne Air Show with my dad, and the Head of the FW Air National Guard offered my dad a ride in the second seat (They served together in France in 1961-62). He turned down the offer. It was the only time in my life that I was seriously tempted to kick my dad square in the a**,. He regrets it to this day.

I would have screamed like a little girl "ooh ooh take me! take me!"

Me too...!!

I was getting lined up for a ride in the backseat of one of our A-4s - just in time for them to be withdrawn from service - so I missed out as well...have plenty of back seat seat in our new jets but they're B757s so it's not quite the same - even if they do fly them like fighters...

Never got up in a Phantom, all my backseat time was in 104s and T-33s with one flight in a Voodoo.

F4 Phantoms can be as beautiful as any other military aircraft, try this video ... my favourite Toom video. From prototype to Vietnam and includes UK and German Phantoms. Also some awesome attack video. The wmv file is here ...

Thanks hancocp! That is a fun video.

I always thought that Phantoms looked the most menacing on the ground... of course that is probably because all of those hydraulic vents protruding from the bottom side had ways of ripping fatigue shirts and the skin under them.

I remember the first F-4 I ever saw. It was at an air show at Miramar, in or about 1970. The Blue Angels were flying it and it was the loudest thing I'd ever heard. Up till then they were flying the F11 Tiger, and it was sleek, but I fell in love with the Phantom once it got into the air. Especially that not-so-horizontal rear stab.
