CMags, I know you are asking because of your thread about the coating spray. No, I don't apply anything, as the laser-applied ink is coated in itself. So don't worry for anything.

Anyway, I have a few minutes to update this thread. More of the Fat Albert.

This is the former that goes back on the fuselage. It is very important to place all the formers on this model to avoid twisting it (take my word for it).

Now with the cabin.

As you can see, the cabin has many curves and the nose is very prominent.

Now the following photos go to AirDave... as there is a misalignment on the panl lines.

Is this a repaint issue (AirDave)? Or a design issue (NOBI)? Maybe we have to go to the original NOBI model itself.

those lines don't even appear on my test build? lol
let me dig out the model and take a look...and sort out a repair for you.

okay, first thing is, the lines are like this in Nobi's original kit.
(so I didn't do this)

but I am guilty of not fixing it, because its pretty damn obvious!!

when I built my test build (at 65%) the line issue was not there for me to see.
(the reduced scale made the lines hard to see, and I did not have the lightened colour in place, so my lines are dark and disappear into the blue background)

are these panel lines supposed to mine up horizontally?
I doubt it...because there are many panel lines, all over the plane,
that don't line up in this way.
I guess a plane this size, has many different shaped panels that don't all line up with matching seams and right angles, etc.

BUT...I do agree that that one area (both sides) looks very odd.

I have created an updated Page Four.
Did a little panel line rework and hopefully this will work better visually.

(At some point, I will have to update the entire kit. but it will take time to go through the kit and repackage it properly)

This does not fix Nobi's original kit, only my repainted fat Albert Version.

I am hoping to do a couple more C130 repaints in the future, I had one request for a Viet Nam era camo...and at that time I can go through the entire kit and include this and any other updates up to now.

I have more updates.

As I have an IPMS-Mexico event next week, I need to apply more speed on the model to take the Fat Albert with me on the trip, so I decided not to include the landing gear. I need, however, a nice base for it (suggestions accepted).

Here is the undercarriage, where the lading gear is stored.

Now the tail section. A very straightforward piece.

And now that I'm on it, I can add the wings.

The wings' internal structure is a little weak for such a big model, even in this 50% scale from the original 1/48. So I added reinforcements in each space of the structure. Last picture.

It has nice wings!

I can see another 2 build reports for C-130's. I just forgot to take pictures of the finished model of my Fat Albert.

I used Epson photo paper Epson ink in an R200. The ink stayed attached and the paper did not delam. I also built a model using Office Depot photo paper, trying to save mula, but had trouble with the clearcoat flaking at hard brakes and tight bends. This paper also liked to delam about mid thickness. Most of the cracking and paper edges at overlaps were corrected using a large color set of Sharpie ultra-fines. Also the better photo paper glued up with less problems. I like the glossy paper for automotive and gloss finishes.
