Hello boys and girls!!!
Guess what...??? YES!! The Fat Albert is finished!! Yeah, I know I told you that in September... and I did. But then I took the model to a modeling event in Guadalajara, Mexico; and the trip did no good to the Hercules. Wings were torn apart, engines were ripped off... agh! Talking about engines, here are the engine parts and one engine complete: |

Now before the end of the year, I wanted to give THANKS to Airdave and to Chris G. for this great model.
I saw other threads with the model, but ine has no landing gear. I hope you like the outcome. The model is very good design. The colors match the real airplane colors. It is a very good model for the interrmediate modeler. I was amazed at how the nose was designed and built, I really liked that. |

wow you have done an amzing job with this model.
even the less than perfect areas have been pleasingly dealt with! I hope I can improve on this herc kit, but you've shown us just how well it can be assembled! (Thats two great complete builds I have seen of this kit so far!) Are you going to design a stand for it? I understand at 50%scale the reluctance to build the JATO bottles, so why not try the 2D cutout JATO?

thank you very much, friends!
Yo, Dave... maybe you are right, I'll add those JATO in 2D. And for the stand, yes, I'm thinking on how to do it, and put it here in the office. |

Just started on my Fat Albert, could not bear to part with that much ink, so went to Office Depot and had them print the pages with color. The former pages i did at home. The Office Depot printed on a copier type printer, very glossy color but glue won't stick to it very good (the printed area not the paper) no real effect on the build but have to flip some glue strips over and use the back side of them (I do color them like the front side with marker pen). The color came out very dark blue, in the house lighting looks to dark but outside in the sun WOW.Will try toost some pics soon.......Rich

Yeah Rich, sometimes the laser printing gives that issue, although not all the time. I guess Office Depot printed your model also in laser (the printer says "DocuColor" on the side).
I bet you can do a very good job on it, despite the glue issues. Are you using UHU? That works OK for me, but it needs to be very well applied, almost like painting with it. |

Yep Office Depot use color copiers to do the printing on,that is dry toner heat fused to the paper, looks great, but makes a kind of a layer on the paper has no effect on the build as you don't glue on the printed side, except for the glue tabs so you have to flip them over or just cut new ones and color them with ink markers. As for glue I use Elmer's Carpenter's Wood Glue works VERY good sticks FAST, just have to be carfull of clean up (on the model) as it dryes yellow. And 3M77 glue for formers.....Rich
