I can't remember where this happened, but there is an annual get together of RC heilo flyers out there and they've done what your hinting at several times.

I saw a couple of videos on YouTube of this get together and there were several guys that have built card/paper heilos to attach to the frames of their RC models.

Looks really cool and when they crash it's not all that big a deal. If I can find them I'll send you the links.

I never flew anything as easy as the Blade CX2. They have...well every thing about them is first rate. There is also a micro mCX2 that is about the same size as an Air Hog. Also a tamdem version that would work for CH-46, CH-47, the flying banana. Please keep posting photos I have an Air hog that could a new dress.

These 1st generation R/C helicopters have serious issues. The main one is that the tail rotor speed control is a series of voltage drops (4, I believe), so it is not proportional to the input, and compensating for the main rotor is difficult, if not downright impossible, that's why you can get them to fly at one setting and then change radically if you increase power. This year, they came out with a coaxial design that uses a tail rotor mounted a 90 degrees (same plane as the co-axial rotors) and it gives better control. For a basic helicopter, these work O.K. The next step up are the ones that actually have a squash plate, giving cyclic and collective controls. Now your talking about a real helicopter, (kind've).

Ok well it fits well, and yes Zathros this being an early gen microcopter it is hard as hell to fly but i did this as proof of concept more or less and if it isnt too heavy and is durable enough im gonna whip something up for my little coaxial bird which is quite controllable.

Dude, that is sweet. When I made mine I made everything on the boom out of regular paper. I used .26 lb. card stock on the rest. It flew, because it was heavier, it was a little more stable, 2 batteries in parallel might give you more flight time. Your looks way better than mine did! You'll have much better luck with the co-axial might I suggest the KA50 for the coaxial?

wish there was a free simple model of it that could be lightly built, i was seriously thinking about the hokum for it too if I could find one oh and this one is done in all 110lb and the rotor gets enough thrust to lift it ok but I havent ironed out the CG positioning yet
