masts
Thanks Glen, Don, Mike, Jim, John and Lex good of you to drop bye.
The masts and spars are a bit of a compromise the foremast is such a delicate construction in real life it would be impossible for me to rig her. Finally I settled for rolling them using cigarette papers it was quite difficult getting the spars to stick. The actual rigging will be wire no pulling cotton with this set up. I should have doubled up the foremast deck it is a bit wobbly. Paper was given a thin coat of super glue. I found another small boat needed adding tonight when i was checking through the design amazing what you can miss for weeks. Still needs paravanes and a couple more winches and hatches. It must be nearly finished I keep saying to myself. The planes need gluing down and a couple of adjustments to the torpedo shelter as you can see. |

Wow barry, you just keep getting better and better at this stuff... almost makes me want to build another ship. (Did I mention my Partners father also served on HMAS Melbourne for a while, I believe you've already designed one of the same class).

That's a beautiful image, Barry!
Agano looks well next to Richelieu. To my eye, this particular Japanese warship seems to have some visual similarity to the beautiful late pre-war French warships. Don |

Thanks Jaffro, Don and Jim
Don possibly looks a bit like the Algerie heavy cruiser I thought more like an RN Leander class cruiser with that single funnel. I fitted the degaussing cables on one side tonight. I should have done that long before now. If anything they are too straight in real life they definately sagged quite a lot and required clamping every 5 or 6 feet. Somehow I do not feel in the mood to produce the clamps maybe one night when I need to do something mindless. |

I take your point about the Leander similarity. Certainly, Agano had a different appearance from most of the other Japanese light cruisers.
Looks good with the degoosers mounted. Don |
