Maersk Sealand Container ship

Still needs a lot of kinks ironing out including the me having put the middeck part on backwards. Jim Krauslis has been painting the containers which is a big help.

Superstructure needs a rebuild the decks are the wrong colour and it needs cleaning up generally especially around the top bridge.

Based on Jim's and your posts I did some googling on the Maersk Sealand. Interesting story about her running aground off South Africa. 25 days it took to pull her off. The amount of work it took is astounding. Even the Russians got into the act.

This should be a most interesting build; certainly something of a change of pace for you. Looking forward to this one. After all - what's a middeck between friends?

hatches

I rebuilt the hull and superstructure. Superstructure needs more mods again. The container layout is very exacting you have to 1 mm to allow the outer container to lock on to the hatch cover (the balck square which just shows).

Got some pictures and plans from Jim for the forecastle which is now looking pretty cluttered.

Container guides

They are supposed to look fairly fragile at this scale which is a bit difficult.

Superstructure revamp

Not much really just got rid of a few join lines. In the cold light of day the hatches looked dreadful so they have all hit the round file. Trouble with regular lines of squares it giver the eye a chance to judge the spacing too easily. The damage should not show too much.

Anchor and mooring winches

Unpainted winches optical illusion just discs glued together no shafts just spacers. I also added the huge breakwater and the main masts.
