19th century colour photographs of Japan , 5 Volumes
I apologize if this is too far off topic, since these books are not about paper modeling, however I thought they were were too amazing not to post.
This is a 5 volume set of hand coloured photographs of 19th c. Japan, taken just as the country was starting to leave the feudal era and begin modernization. Parts of the country were still densely forested, and judging from the photographs, the upper classes led utterly luxurious lives, village life looked grim and French book binders were good at marbeling paper. 1 Japonais / [réalisé par Stillfried & Andersen] ; [d'après des négatifs de Raimund von Stillfried, Felice Beato et autres photographes] | Gallica 2 Japonais / [réalisé par Stillfried & Andersen] ; [d'après des négatifs de Raimund von Stillfried, Felice Beato et autres photographes] | Gallica 3 Japonais / [réalisé par Stillfried & Andersen] ; [d'après des négatifs de Raimund von Stillfried, Felice Beato et autres photographes] | Gallica 4 Japonais / [réalisé par Stillfried & Andersen] ; [d'après des négatifs de Raimund von Stillfried, Felice Beato et autres photographes] | Gallica 5 Japonais / [réalisé par Stillfried & Andersen] ; [d'après des négatifs de Raimund von Stillfried, Felice Beato et autres photographes] | Gallica Some of these 19th c. images may not be suitable for viewing in a 21st c. workplace. And as a bonus, a travel book written by one of the first western tourists who left the port cities and did a rough tour of Japan in the late 1870's. http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2184 |

I like the fifth volume with all the scenery.
Time travel...old photographs are the closest thing we have to time travel. I love it!!!!
