Toy Truck Instructions

Hi guys,

I am starting a new thread for the toy truck instructions so it will be easy to find. The files should be ready pretty soon as I work on them and the instructions simultaneously.

As I have already mentioned it was printed on 67lbs/176gsm Staples coverstock except for the Deluxe parts that were printed on Canon Prixma 45lbs/170gsm matte photo paper. I work with contact cement rather than white glue and the truck is about 16.5" long x 5" wide x 5.25" tall.

That is for the specifications so here we start with the chassis and fenders assembly.

Step 1- Cut and fold as shown.
Step 2- Make sure to align both parts correctly to allow the running board support (part 5) to be inserted in the chassis on step 9.
Step 3- To get your chassis as square as possible, make sure to align the edge of both sides on the center line of part 2. It must be perfectly aligned up front and rear as well.
Step 4- Cut and fold as shown.
Step 5- Make sure part 3 is assembled up front (front is identified on part 1 and 2). The next image is a close-up view of the assembly.
Step 6- Close the front of the chassis (try to make it square as possible).
Step 7- Close the rear of the chassis (try to make it square as possible).
Step 8- Cut and fold as shown.
Step 9- Insert the running board support.
Step 10- Make sure the running board support is correctly aligned.
Step 11- Cut and fold as shown (you need the optional bumper support only if you plan to build the Deluxe Truck).
Step 12- Assemble as shown.
Step 13- The bumper support fits like a pair of glasses over the front axle.
Step 14- Cut and fold as shown.
Step 15- Close the undersides of the fenders.
Step 16- Shape the fenders as shown.
Step 17- Assemble part 7 and 8.
Step 18- Join the fenders and chassis and make sure it is correctly aligned.

The cab now!

Step 19- Cut and fold as shown.
Step 20- Make a light mark on the back of part 9 on each side at the hood/cowl dash junction line.
Step 21- Cut and fold as shown.
Step 22- Make a light mark on the back of part 10 on top of the upper moulding.
Step 23- Assemble part 9 and 10.
Step 24- Align the firewall on the marks you made on step 20 on each side as shown.
Step 25- Cut, fold and assemble the optional Deluxe seat as shown.
Step 26- Join the seat assembly to the cowl dash.
Step 27- Push the assembly in the firewall/floor junction fold.
Step 28- Cut and fold as shown.
Step 29- Close the steering wheel column.
Step 30- Assemble both sides of the steering wheel together, then join the wheel to the column.
Step 31- Join the steering wheel to the firewall/dash.
Step 32- Close the back of the cab.
Step 33- Join the seat to the cab. Align the top of the seat on the mark you made on step 22.
Step 34- Close the top and roll or fold a little the sunvisor to add strength.
Step 35- Add the Deluxe silver grille strip (optional). Use the center mark provided on the file to make a small cut on the strip, then align it with the hood centerline.
Step 36- Cut grille and fold as shown. Use the alignement marks provided on the file to make small cuts on the grille then align them with the top of the hood side tabs and with the hood centerline.
Step 37- Cut and assemble the headlight cones, then glue them to the back of the headlights.
Step 38- Carefully join the cab assembly to the chassis.

Thank you Don,

I am trying to give as much details as I can to make this truck a pleasant build for everyone who will give it a try. Still, if you have any question, feel free to ask. The files should be submitted today in the download section as there is very little left to do.

So here are the final steps of the assembly.

Step 39- Cut and fold as shown.
Step 40- Join one side of part 12 (bed frame) to part 13 (bed floor).
Step 41- Join the other side.
Step 42- Join the sides of the bed to the floor, then join the sides together.
Step 43- If you have chosen to build the Deluxe truck, cut, fold and glue the bumper. You could roll or fold the bumper corners to add some stiffness.
Step 44- Join the bumper and the bed to the chassis.
Step 45- Each tire is made of 2 sides, the tread and a strip that will be rolled as a sleeve.
Step 46- Roll the strip as a sleeve over a 1/8" diameter rod (that is the diameter of the axle) and the tread.
Step 47- Join the tread to one side, then align the sleeve and the wheel side with the 1/8" diameter rod (or your axle).
Step 48- Join the second side to the rest of the wheel assembly. Make sur to align both parts correctly.
Step 49- Cut the wheel spacers.
Step 50- Roll the spacers over a 1/8" diameter rod.
Step 51/52- Insert the spacer beetween 2 wheels for a double wheel assembly. Ignore steps 49 to 52 if you plan to build the single wheel truck version.
Step 53- Cut and mark the 1/8" diameter axles as shown on the patterns provided with the files.
Step 54- Caution! Make sure to insert the axles in the tubes before to mount the wheels on them.

You are now a kid again!
Enjoy.

The files have been uploaded in three sections (I do not know how to link them and I am not even sure I can do that in Photoshop). They are waiting for approval so keep looking in the Download section!
