I leave for a few years and look what happens!

Devastated to learn that Paper Models International, my source of choice here in the US,
has been closed? ...sold? ...divested?

There is a "Change of Ownership" notice posted dated 7/2009, but I don't know if it's valid or not, the new owner hasn't done much with the website at least!

Cat.Updates

Has anyone had any experience buying from Mark Beard now that Lou D. has retired?

Lou, if you are out there, thanks for all you've done over the years to support the hobby

:( :( :(

Joshua,

We are now down to one Internet based supplier of commercial kits in the US and that is The Paper Model Store they have good service and a large inventory. However the store is weak on having the latest models and the stock of Halinski kits is not large. On the up side several of the eastern European stores take PayPal and the shipping is fast but not cheap.

Joshua,
As I noted on another build thread the old PMI is no longer available
to us modelers. The new owner has not restocked and the catalog
shows models from a couple of years ago that are not in stock. Very
few show up as being in stock. I have ordered from the new owner
and paid by credit card. I have repeatedly tried to contact Mark the
new owner with no success all I get is an answering service. I have
talked to Lou recently and he is still consults with Mark on a limited
basis. He is enjoying retirement and still building models. He recently
built all the old PMI model line of models to display at Macminville Ore.
where the Spruce Goose is on display.....Ron
