Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan

My thoughts and prayers to everyone in Japan who has been affected by the earthquake and Tsunami in Japan today.

Also my best hopes for those in the pacific who have more waves bearing down on them.

Scott K.

A quote from the AOL story below;

The biggest earthquake to hit Japan since records began almost 150 years ago smashed into the country's northeast coast today, triggering a 32-foot tsunami that swept away boats, cars and homes. Colossal waves are now barreling toward Hawaii, where thousands of people have been evacuated from the islands' coastline.

The 8.9-magnitude quake's epicenter was 231 miles northeast of Tokyo, the United States Geological Survey reported. But the destruction caused by the natural disaster is expected to spread far beyond Japan, as the Red Cross in Geneva reported the swell moving across the Pacific was higher than some islands.

It'll be fine... The Japanese people have already got used to quakes big and small, they wouldn't even fear

Compared with another country...

Lex,
I don't share your opinion. This is the largest earthquake to hit Japan in
recorded history. The resulting Tsunami is going to affect Hawaii and
maybe even the west coast of the US, Canada and Alaska....Ron

I'm not sure anyone would ever get used to such devastation and loss of life. I for one would never be able to. My heart goes out to all those effected both directly and those who are worried for people they care about and have yet to hear from.

When I woke up this morning, I was worried about my lack of a job, and my declining bank balance. Then I saw this story.

I agree with Rapidtox, nature just reminded me that my problems are really not quite as bad as I thought...

Oops I take back my statement... Now I wish our own Yu safe and well. Indeed I wasn't quite aware of the strength of earthquake or full extent of the destruction, but still I believe many more were saved by Japan's preparedness for just this kind of disaster.

My prayers to Japan people, and all those in the way of the tsunamis.

I hope our brethren in paper are all well.
