Triplets of Belleville
In Tim Crowe's thread on his build of the Schreiber-Bogen Citroen HY the question came up regarding whether the gangsters' sinister black limos were stretched versions of the Citroen 2CV.
I have opened a new thread so as not to clutter up Tim's build thread with this kind of irrelevant rubbish. I realize that it is not the most reliable source, but the Wikipedia article about the movie "The Triplets of Belleville" contains the following paragraph: Quote:

No idea about the car, but that was a really good movie! It is different, but really cool. One of the few I've actually bought.

Wow, I wish I saw this thread before I cluttered up the other. I thought it might be the Traction but now you have me wondering. Maybe it was a hybrid. Great movie, The politically incorrect beginning is a must see (especially if your married), and if the movie you have doesn't have it, it's on you tube. I'll go edit out the other post.

And the music is really haunting. Just reading this thread brings it back - that wacky trio with the kitchen utensil percussion section. Cannot get it out of my head, actually... better go ride around the block on my bike. Didn't see the other thread - is there a paper model of the 2CV?

Speaking of music, the film also has cameos of Django Reinhardt, Josephine Baker, Fred Astaire and Glenn Gould.
I also like the kitchen utensils music. You have good taste, Rob. The Wiki article has this: Quote:

Sylvain Chaumet had made recently (2010) another cartoon in the same spirit and design : L'illusionniste ("The illusionist")
The script is adapted from an old and unknow Jacques Tati's script. Unfortunatly, I haven't seen it !! Link to the trailer Sylvain Chaumet interview |

And the ship on which they sail to America is rather wonderful.

In the triplette, we can see many old (and not so old) cars :
1954 BMW 501 V8 Baur 1955 Buick Century 1948 Chevrolet 6400 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 1949 Citroën 2CV (extra long...) 1963 Citroën DS 19 1962 Citroën Type HY 1961 Fiat 500 D 1952 Ford F-1 1941 Ford ½-Ton Pick-Up 1940 Graham Opel Blitz 1949 Renault 4CV 1934 Renault TN6C 1961 Volkswagen Combi [Typ 2 / T1] I agree with you Don, the ship is really fantastic ! and the tug boat too (even if it is more classical...) No doubt I had them in mind when I created those papercrafts |
