German bomber found intact

Seems as though the DO-17 is laying there in great shape.

BBC News - Luftwaffe Dornier 17 at Goodwin Sands 'still intact'

Wow, great find.

Reminds me of the incident in which 2 boys in Southern England were playing outside one day. They were fooling around in the dirt and found a piece of wire sticking out of the ground. They began excavating the wire, as boys do, and uncovered more and more wire. They kept digging and uncovering until they hit something very large. One of their parents noticed something, and local government moved in to finish the digging. These boys had uncovered a crashed Spitfire from the Battle of Britain! Almost completely intact! True story.

Thumbs up Great Find

Of all WWII German Bombers, this one is one of my favorites ! She's got a very nice overall shape. So pleased that they found her. Many MANY thanks for sharing this item.

One of my buddies sent me this story at work. I'm a little surprised that it's not considered a gravesite as two of the crew died. That being said, I do want to see this recovered and preserved.

The crew may have bailed out or they may have water landed and escaped.

I'm not positive, but I believe the two who perished in the crash were buried onshore, while the two survivors were POW's in Canada. At least I believe that is what was said in the story.
